ECDIS is an integrated navigation device based on ECDIS. It is a comprehensive system that plans, modifies and monitors a vessel¡¯s navigation by using a series of electronic charts. Meaning ¡°port,¡± in Korean, ECDIS is a revolutionary guidance system which ensures the safe and efficient passage of vessels.

ECDIS (Electric Chart Display and Information System) consists of the following components:
- NCC (Nautical Conning Console). Displays all navigation data on a single window display.
- ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System). Manipulates the electronic charts.
- NDP (Nautical Data Processor). Collects the nautical data from sensors and transmits the information
   to NCC and ECDIS, and other auxiliary navigation sensor systems.
- IAS (Integrated Alarm System). Located in the bridge, this device monitors various automationsystems.

The combined efforts of these various systems constitute NARU 2000. As illustrated above, NARU provides a broad range of safeguarding, mechanical, as well as cost-cutting benefits.
