GENERAL
HOWID is used for water ingress detection and alarm arrangements installed on bulk carriers for
compliance with SOLAS Chapter XII, Regulation 12 and 13.
The system task is to detect the inflow of water into specific spaces within the vessel and to give some
indication of the rate of inflow in order to give warning of conditions that could threaten buoyancy, stability
and structural integrity of the hull.
THE system is also used for indication/supervision of a dewatering process of forward spaces according to SOLAS Chapter XII, regulation 13.1
